Stanley Vespucci, der Produzent der Filme, trägt wesentlich zur Aufklärung des Falles bei, indem er das Band der Überwachungskamera liefert. Mittlerweile hatte Doc Robbins herausgefunden, dass Weatherly nicht durch die Axt gestorben ist, sondern von einem scharfkantigen Rohr durchbohrt wurde und die Axt somit nur zur Vertuschung der eigentlichen Todesursache angebracht worden war. Bei einer erneuten Begehung der Örtlichkeiten finden Catherine und Ronnie Lake die Mordwaffe und den Tatort. Catherine erhält plötzlich einen Anruf von Dickie, einem Schauspieler.
