On his first mission he runs into Arthur, an accountant with a moth costume who aspires to superherodom. The Tick must get the antidote to save the City and himself, while fighing El Seed and his army of corn-soldiers. Fortunately he gets some help from the Civic-Minded Five. Arthur realizes the ""special"" substance was merely aspirin, so he gets The Tick to feed a giant aspirin to the man-beast, turning him back into a human. The Tick asks Arthur to become his sidekick and reside in their headquarters: Arthur's apartment. Some criminals calling themselves ""The Idea Men"", guys who don't want to work anymore and are impossible to understand because of their full-face masks, rob a bank. They fail, thanks to the Tick, but manage to escape.
